On June 26, 1976 CAPA Founder, Rod Moser, PA called a meeting of California PAs in Fresno, California. Rod knew that if this new profession didn’t band together, it would go nowhere and be quickly quashed. As a profession we have had some close calls over the years but CAPA has always been there ready to fight. Thank you for being a member. CAPA is only as strong as the members it represents. We look for your continued support. We need every California PA’s support! And, California PAs definitely need CAPA! 33 years after that first meeting in Fresno the need to band together is ever present and perhaps the stakes are even higher. There are over 7,000 licensed PAs in California. CAPA is here to diligently protect your investment in a profession. Don’t ever think that an entire profession can’t be done away with. It can and there are those who would love to see that happen. One piece of “anti-PA” legislation could so strictly limit your scope of practice that the benefits you provide to a medical practice would be all but nonexistent. We are not overstating this. California PAs must remain committed to the professional organization who works each day to protect you. To fight for you. To educate physicians and physician groups about the benefits of hiring a PA. To introduce legislation to enable you to do your job and provide the best care possible to as many patients as possible. We are here to make sure the PA profession is part of the discussion at every table in Sacramento where legislators, regulators and often our adversaries sit. As the saying goes (and keeping with the fish metaphor :) If you aren’t at the table, you may very well be on the menu!
Please do your part for your profession today. Spend just one hour's pay each quarter to support the only organization in California fighting for you - the California PA. We hope you will remain a member throughout your career. *Fellow and Associate |
