Controlled Substances Education Course – (Meets requirements pursuant to California Code of Regulations Sections: 1399.541(h), 1399.610 and 1399.612)
Two important Team Practice Advancements with this course:
- Elimination of advance approval requirements for controlled substances
- Cosignature reduction for medical records involving Schedule II medications
Effective January 1, 2016, as a result of CAPA’s sponsored legislation, SB 337, California law establishes a mechanism to reduce cosignatures for the medical records when Schedule II controlled substances have been issued from 100% down to 20% when PAs hold a certificate of completion from an education course that meets the requirements in Sections 1399.610 and 1399.612 of Title 16 of the California Code of Regulations. The SP shall review, countersign and date the medical records within 7 days.
Effective January 1, 2008, as a result of CAPA’s sponsored legislation, AB 3, California law establishes a mechanism for a PA to administer, provide, or issue a drug order for Schedule II through V controlled substances without patient specific advanced approval if the PA holds a certificate of completion from an education course that meets the requirements in Sections 1399.610 and 1399.612 of Title 16 of the California Code of Regulations.

There will be a $50 service charge on refunds from August 27, 2017 through September 30, 2018; a $100 charge for refunds made from October 1 through October 26, 2018; no refunds will be made after October 27, 2018. This program has been reviewed and is approved for 6 hours Category I (preapproved) CME credit by the American Academy of PAs. In order to fulfill the requirements of California Code of Regulations Sections: 1399.541(h), 1399.610 and 1399.612 you must attend the entire 6-hour course, take and pass the post test.
